Muay Thai Basics Test for Mission Level 1 Advancement (M1)

At Mission Muay Thai Academy, the transition from Fundamentals to Mission Level 1 advancement classes represents a significant step in a student’s Muay Thai journey. This milestone demonstrates the consistent ability of foundational techniques, discipline, and readiness to tackle more advanced training. All students are required to meet specific guidelines to be invited to test. Speak to a Mission front desk staff member to learn more about prerequisites to test.

What the Test Covers

The fundamentals test evaluates the essential skills required for success in Level 1.
Students are expected to show competency in:

  • Mission Stance and Movement: Strong balance, footwork, and the ability to move fluidly in both offensive and defensive positions.
  • Basic Strikes: Execution of clean and powerful punches, kicks, knees, and elbows, including understanding proper technique, alignment, and power generation.
  • Defense and Blocks: Maintaining a strong guard and demonstrating basic defensive maneuvers, such as blocking, parrying, and evasion.
  • Combinations: Linking strikes into fluid combinations with proper timing and rhythm.
  • Clinch Basics: Understanding basic clinch positions, control, balance, posture, and the ability to deliver knees effectively.
  • Pad Work: Working with a partner to display technique accuracy, power, balance, and coordination during pad drills.
  • Fitness and Conditioning: A baseline level of M8 -stamina, strength, conditioning, and endurance to endure Muay Thai training intensity.
  • Understanding of Code of Conduct: Exceptional knowledge of the foundational Mission Muay Thai academy culture, including Respect, Discipline, Humility, Cleanliness, Responsibility, Integrity, Excellence, and Teamwork.

Testing Format

The test typically consists of a demonstration of techniques, partner drills, M8 strength & conditioning and light-controlled sparring. Instructors assess students on technique, effort, and understanding of the Fundamentals curriculum.

Advancement to M1 Program

Students who pass the fundamentals test are welcomed into Level 1 advancement classes, where they will begin learning intermediate techniques, refining their skills, and exploring the tactical aspects of Muay Thai. This step is not only about skill but also about embodying the values of discipline, respect, and perseverance central to the art and sport of Muay Thai. Prepare, focus, and give your best effort.
